Actor Prateik Babbar paid a deeply touching tribute to his late mother, the legendary actress Smita Patil, on her birth anniversary, honouring her memory with quiet grace and affection.

Prateik gave followers a preview of a private celebration she hosted in her honour on Instagram stories. In one of his stories, he shared a close-up of a chocolate cake with the words “Happy Birthday Maa” written across it and a small candle flickering softly on top.

Another story showed the actor standing beside the cake, his gaze fixed lovingly on a large black-and-white portrait of Smita, draped in a garland. His caption, “Happy birthday maa ,”

Smita Patil remains one of Indian cinema’s most iconic and revered figures. She was an actress whose conviction and skill were timeless.

Known for her parts in beloved films such as Manthan, Arth, Bhumika, and Mirch Masala. She was praised for her dedication to crafting stories that were both meaningful and socially conscious in addition to her beautiful performances.

During her little more than ten-year career, Smita starred in over 80 films, leaving a legacy that still serves as an inspiration to both performers and filmmakers. She was one of the most captivating on-screen personalities Indian film has ever seen because of her beauty, composure, and unadulterated emotional depth.

Veteran actor Raj Babbar also paid tribute to his late wife on social media on October 17, 2025. He posted a heartfelt message:

“Smita consciously used her cinematic journey as a medium to drive change. Her portrayals dared to question norms and dismantle stereotypes. Her ease with complex roles and her deep understanding of characters woven into our social fabric set her apart.”
