Pooja Ruparel aka Chutki recalls memories of DDLJ shoot with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol: 'They were such great co-actors'

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, one of Bollywood's most famous movies. Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer film was released on October 20, 1995.

Pooja Ruparel, who portrayed "Chutki" in the Aditya Chopra-directed movie, talked candidly about SRK and Kajol's relationship on the set.

The actress suggested that the famous on-screen couple were such "great co-actors," and as soon as the shot was finished, SRK and Kajol resumed their friendship, regardless of how romantic the scene was.

In a recent interview with Screen by Indian Express, Pooja revealed that her equation with Shah Rukh started from King Uncle.

Pooja recalled, “His(SRK) life changed post Deewana, the way people saw him. I have to give him credit that when I met the second time, his life was not the same at all, but he was."

The actress then called Shah Rukh a “gentle", “generous" and “giving soul.” She also referred to him as an “intelligent" person.

Pooja also talked about her on-screen sister Kajol and noted, “Kajol is a feminist class wrapped into a person. I always thought I wanted her confidence. She was bouncing off the walls, being her truest self. She was just being her."

Additionally, she disclosed that Kajol was the "pampered princess" on the set.

Sharing further the bond between the lead actors of the film, Pooja called Kajol fire and SRK water. They were close friends, she disclosed. She found it fascinating to watch two actors who were in different relationships in real life fall in love on screen.

She elaborated, “There was buzz on set about her just falling in love, and they were such great co-actors who could stimulate the most perfect romance, and after the cut, they were friends again. Seeing that dexterity in people was great, I was soaking it all in.”

Pooja also described her experience filming DDLJ as "incredible," adding that the most significant aspect of her life is being a tiny part of something so enormous.
