Orry misses Mumbai Police questioning in Rs 252 crore drug trafficking case, seeks time till November 25

Mumbai socialite Orry Awatramani has found himself in the spotlight for reasons far removed from his usual glamour. This time, it’s a serious police investigation drawing attention his way.

Orry skips questioning regarding drug case

Orhan Awatramani, better known by his stage name Orry, is a popular socialite and influencer in Mumbai. However, this time it's not because of his star-studded parties or his viral Instagram posts.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch has summoned him for questioning in connection with a high-profile drug trafficking case.

According to PTI, an official confirmed that Orry was expected to appear before investigators on Thursday, November 20, but he did not show up. Instead, his lawyer appeared on his behalf and requested more time, asking that the questioning be postponed until November 25.

Why Orry Was Summoned?

The summons followed claims made by Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, an alleged drug trafficker with reported ties to the Dawood Ibrahim gang. Shaikh, who was deported from Dubai last month, allegedly told investigators during interrogation that he had organised opulent parties in Dubai and Mumbai attended by several well-known personalities.

Among those named were Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, Siddhant Kapoor, filmmakers Abbas–Mustan, rapper Loka, NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique, and Orry himself.

An ANC officer told Hindustan Times, “We have summoned Orry to our office in Ghatkopar on Thursday morning to question him about the matter.”

The wider case dates back to March 2024, when police raided a mephedrone-manufacturing unit on a farm in Sangli district. Officers seized a staggering 126.14 kilograms of the drug, worth roughly Rs 252 crore.

After being brought back from Dubai, Shaikh reportedly confessed to organising lavish rave parties across India and abroad, allegedly frequented by celebrities and socialites.

Orry, who has built a reputation as Bollywood’s go-to social butterfly, is rarely far from the limelight. Known for his quirky style and high-profile friendships, he is often photographed alongside Suhana Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Nysa Devgan, and Sara Ali Khan.

So far, Orry hasn’t made any public comment on the summons. In fact, just a day before he was supposed to face investigators, he was seen having a good time at Travis Scott’s electrifying concert in Mumbai on November 19.

For now, all eyes are on November 25, when the social media favourite is expected to appear before the Mumbai Police — a date that could prove pivotal in the unfolding investigation.
