Over the past several months, rumours of a rift between Govinda and his wife Sunita has been swirling—fuelled by Sunita’s frank remarks in interviews and whispers of a possible separation.
But just when fans began to wonder if things had truly fallen apart, the couple made a united appearance during Ganesh Chaturthi last month.
Smiling for the cameras and standing close, they seemed as solid as ever. Sunita even addressed the gossip head-on, saying,
“Koi hum dono ko alag nahi kar sakta hain, chahe upar se koi aa jaaye bhagwan aa jaaye, koi shaitaan aa jaaye (No one can separate us—not even God or the devil)”
Now, Govinda has opened up about his marriage like never before during an episode of Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle. Reflecting on his long journey with Sunita, he described her in the most tender way: “She is a child herself... an honest child.”
He added that their children often treat her like the youngest in the family, yet she’s managed the household with incredible strength. “Her words are never wrong,” he said, “but sometimes she says things that she shouldn't.”
The actor also acknowledged that understanding his wife’s perspective hasn’t always been easy.
“The problem with men is that they can’t think on those lines... I always believe that man runs the house but women run the whole world.”
Govinda didn’t shy away from being vulnerable either. When asked if Sunita admits to her mistakes, he replied:
“She has herself made so many mistakes... I have forgiven her and the entire family so many times.”
Earlier this year, Sunita had jokingly remarked in an interview that in her next life, she wouldn’t want Govinda as a husband—citing his lack of holidays and romantic dates. Despite the humour, fans took it as another hint at trouble.
But beneath all the headlines, theirs is a story of companionship, forgiveness, and evolving love. Govinda and Sunita, who have been married since 1987 and are still together, have witnessed it all and have always chosen one another.
