Putting an end to the recent confusion around Chandni Bar Returns, producer Sandeep Singh and his banner Legend Studios have issued a formal clarification confirming that they hold all legal rights and clearances for the film.

The studio emphasized that the title rights were acquired directly from the original IP holder, late R. Mohan’s successors, and not from any other entity.

The clarification comes after reports suggested uncertainty regarding who actually owned the rights to the title — a debate that has since been settled with the studio’s official documentation.

In an official statement, co-producer Vishal Gurnani stated, “Sandeep Singh’s Legend Studios has acquired the option rights of the said title from the original producers, who are the registered trademark and IP owners of Chandni Bar (2001). No other banner can legally make this film. Our IP lawyers are already addressing the matter with the concerned trade associations and are taking all necessary steps to protect our rights.”

The studio also shared a copy of the Government of India Trademark Registry certificate, showing that the CHANDNI BAR trademark (Application Number 1662053, Class 41) is registered under Lata Mohan Iyer, wife of R. Mohan. The evidence, Legend Studios said, proves that the legal successors of R. Mohan are the rightful IP owners — not filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar or his entity.
