Fresh controversy has emerged around BLACKPINK after American songwriter Bekuh Boom, who has co-written several of the group’s biggest hits, shared new details about her alleged mistreatment in the industry.

Bekuh Boom is widely known for contributing to chart-topping BLACKPINK tracks such as Boombayah, Whistle, DDU-DU DDU-DU, Kill This Love, and Pretty Savage. However, in early February, she made serious allegations about her experiences working with a label widely believed by fans to be YG Entertainment.

According to Koreaboo, Boom earlier claimed she had been “used” from a young age, alleging that she was promised a record deal that took years to materialise, subjected to verbal abuse, and even pressured into making deeply personal decisions, including a claim that she was told to get an abortion.

In a recent follow-up video, Boom expanded on her claims, revealing that her experience worsened during the production of BLACKPINK’s track Typa Girl. She described a moment in the studio where someone allegedly told her that they continued working with her because she “accepted less”.

Boom also alleged that Lisa’s solo track Money was released without her knowledge and that the financial split from the project did not favour her.

The situation escalated when Boom interacted with comments on her post, leading to speculation about the extent of involvement from others. In response to a suggestion that she could now work directly with Lisa, Boom wrote that none of “them” wanted to help or acknowledge her, adding that “they were all in on it.”

Additionally, Boom liked a comment suggesting that BLACKPINK members should have defended her, which many interpreted as a subtle indication that she holds the group partially accountable for her alleged treatment.

While many fans have expressed support for Boom and called for greater accountability within the industry, others have urged caution, noting that her claims remain one-sided and unverified by the parties involved.

As of now, neither BLACKPINK nor YG Entertainment has issued an official response to Boom’s latest statements. The lack of clarification has only fueled ongoing debate, with some fans also noting her absence from the group’s most recent releases.
