Bigg Boss OTT finalist Shamita Shetty reveals getting therapy post the reality show; says, ‘Was already suffering from anxiety and became a little aggressive’

Bigg Boss is very well known for its controversial format, the fights and disagreements in the house, and while some take home good friendships, there are a few which turn out to be bitter. Along with that, there are also some contestants who have got infatuated and many, who have found love inside the house.

Shamita Shetty was a part of Bigg Boss OTT 1.

She recently talked candidly about her experience on reality shows and how they influenced her career and personal life. The actress revealed in an exclusive podcast with Pinkvilla that although Bigg Boss and other such shows helped her get recognition, they also had a long-lasting effect on her mental health.

Shamita was quoted as, “During COVID, when many individuals were languishing at home without jobs, Bigg Boss also entered my life. I therefore intended to take full use of that chance. And because I was so tired of being judged at that point, I reasoned that perhaps it would be best to just enter that mansion and show the world who I really was."

In the same interview, she added, “I learned a lot about the outside world from Bigg Boss. I believe it took a significant portion of my inner self as well. Indeed, Bigg Boss is a program that brings out the best and the worst in people, but after I left, I honestly required therapy for a year because I couldn't comprehend what was going on around me or how to respond appropriately.

She revealed further to the publication that, "I was experiencing a great deal of mental confusion as my fiction and reality were becoming more and more entangled. I was unsure about how to act. I had the impression that I was always sitting in my armor, ready to defend myself, even after I left that place."

Shedding light over receiving therapy, Shamita averred, "I was really nervous when I came out. It kind of made it worse for me because I was already dealing with anxiousness. I believe the home caused me to become a little agressive after I came out because I was battling so many things inside the house. Imagine waking up almost every morning to the sound of people yelling at one another over trivial things like toothpaste. The atmosphere isn't really good. It causes you mental and emotional distress."
