Abhishek Kumar talks about early struggles

Popular Bigg Boss 17 contestant and television actor Abhishek Kumar, best known for his role in Udaariyaan, has talked candidly about a very traumatic event from his early career. Despite his incredible rise in Indian television, he faced many obstacles along the way, some of which had a long-lasting emotional effect.

In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Abhishek candidly spoke about a disturbing experience that led him to momentarily abandon his acting aspirations.

Recounting an incident that occurred shortly after his arrival in Mumbai, he revealed, “Voh kareeb 6 months mei aaya tha. Toh mere sath ek incident ho gaya, Gay tha koi jo touchy touchy sa ho gaya tha.” (He came approximately after 6 months. So, one incident happened to me. A gay person became touchy-touchy.)

When asked whether this happened on his very first day in the industry, Abhishek clarified, “1.5-2 mahine ke baad. Toh mai darr gaya tha...” (It happened after 1.5-2 months. So I got scared...) He explained how the person tried to manipulate him, implying that compromising was necessary to move forward in the industry: "Tuje aisa karna padega, tabhi tu aage badh sakta hai." (You have to do this, only then you will succeed.)

The encounter shook Abhishek so much that he decided to leave Mumbai almost immediately. “Mai darr gaya tha maine kaha ye kya ho rha hai. Maine ghar pe nahi bataya tha mai Mumbai mei hu...” (I was scared, wondering what was happening. I didn’t tell my family I was in Mumbai; I told them I was in Delhi for training). He contacted his mother, who encouraged him to return home, leading to a painful journey back. “Maine agle din ki train ki ticket li general ki. Aur mei general mai baitha hu, rota rota vapis ghar jaa rha hu.” (I booked a general train ticket for the next day and sat in the general compartment, returning home in tears.)

Following this experience, Abhishek lost the drive to pursue acting and instead took up a modest job, earning just Rs 7,000 per month. It took time and immense resilience for him to return to the world of entertainment.

Today, he’s thriving once again—recently appearing on Laughter Chefs 2 and competing in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, hosted by Rohit Shetty. His journey stands as a reminder of the unseen struggles many face behind the glamour of showbiz, and the courage it takes to speak out.
