Actor and influencer Kashish Kapoor has sparked a conversation online after voicing frustration over the deafening noise during Ganesh Chaturthi visarjan processions.
In a long, candid note, Kashish said she was prepared for backlash from what she called “dharam ke rakshak” but still felt compelled to speak. Living on the 20th floor of her Mumbai apartment, she explained how hours of non-stop drumming pierced through closed windows and doors. “Yeh jo bhaar jo awaaz ho rahi hai, mere sir mein ghus raha hai and that too on the 20th floor,” she wrote.
Kapoor stressed she is not against the festival — far from it. She described Ganesh Chaturthi as “enchanting” and “surreal”, recalling that she too has joined visarjan processions in the past. But the issue, she said, was the lack of limits. “Bhai 15 min, 20 min, aadha ghanta, ek ghanta, bhai saade teen ghanta se baje jaa raha hai,” she complained, adding that the relentless sound left her with a headache.
She asked whether turning down the volume or cutting back the hours would really upset Lord Ganesha. “Agar reasonable volume par bajao toh kya Bappa bura maan jaayenge kya? Thoda logical reasonable par toh bajao,” she said, pointing out that much of the drumming lacked rhythm or tune anyway.
Ending her note, Kashish appealed for empathy rather than trolling. “God will understand you love them, but can you stop harassing us,” she wrote, adding a plea: “Gaali dene mat aana please understand.”
Her words echo a familiar debate that surfaces each year during the 10-day festival: how to celebrate with devotion while respecting the peace of residents. For many, Kapoor’s post is a reminder that faith and festivity can be powerful without pushing people, quite literally, to the edge of their patience.
Following the theft of Rs 7 lakh from her home, Kashish recently made headlines as well. According to reports, she accused her cook of doing the same. Regarding her career, Kashish is most recognised for her particiaption in Bigg Boss 18.
