Actress Bella Thorne has spoken out about what she described as “one of the all-time worst experiences” of her acting career, involving veteran actor Mickey Rourke.
Thorne shared her account on social media, following Rourke’s recent homophobic comments directed at JoJo Siwa.
Taking to Instagram and X, Thorne expressed her disgust, posting a photo of Rourke with the caption, “This f***ing dude. GROSS.” She went on to recount disturbing incidents that allegedly took place while filming a scene with Rourke, though she did not specify the film’s name. However, the two worked together on the 2020 thriller Girl.
Thorne detailed a particularly traumatising scene: “I had to work with this man — in a scene where I'm on my knees with my hands zip-tied behind my back. He was supposed to take a metal grinder to my kneecap, but instead, he used it on my genitals through my jeans, hitting them over and over again. I had bruises on my pelvic bone,” she wrote.
The actress further revealed that the troubling behaviour didn’t stop there. According to her, Rourke later revved his engine and deliberately sprayed her with dirt during the filming of his final scene. “So many gross stories of things he made me go through on that movie, including in his last scene, where he sped up and revved his engine to cover me completely in dirt.”
She also claimed she was forced to visit Rourke’s trailer alone, as he refused to engage with the director or producers. “Having to go into his trailer absolutely alone because he refused to speak to the director or producers — I had to convince him to show up and complete his job, as he shouted crazy demands to the producers. In fact, I had to beg. Alone. In his trailer.”
In response, Rourke’s team issued a statement via The Hollywood Reporter, denying any intentional wrongdoing: “We are aware of the deeply troubling statements made by Bella Thorne... Mr. Rourke adamantly denies any intentional misconduct... He is prepared to cooperate fully with any appropriate inquiry.”
