Thama, the highly anticipated vampire-themed comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, is approaching its climactic chapter after months of exploring sinister legends, mysterious forests, and an unsettlingly twisted love story.
The film's final and most important shooting schedule, which was directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, began on April 28 in the foggy hill town of Ooty.
The film's climax and important developments in the main characters' romantic arc are among the crucial scenes that will be included in this final leg of filming, which is scheduled to run until May 25. As they film against the breathtaking backdrop of Doddabetta Peak, one of Tamil Nadu's highest points, the cast and crew are currently encamped in the verdant Nilgiri forests.
This schedule will also explore the enigmatic past of Nawazuddin Siddiqui's character, a vampire with a mysterious origin, adding another level of intrigue to the story. The actor is scheduled to start filming the climactic scenes and his origin story during the third week of May.
A source close to the production revealed to Mid-Day, “Starting April 28, Ayushmann and Rashmika filmed their portions in the forests of Ooty. They are currently filming in and around Doddabetta Peak. In this leg, the director will shoot some portions of the love story between the leads. After Nawazuddin joins the unit in the third week of May, they will shoot the backstory of how he became a vampire, and the climax.”
Thama, which is set in two different timelines, follows Ayushmann's character, a historian, as he explores the mythological origins of vampires in Indian folklore.

The narrative skilfully switches between the present and the historic city of Vijayanagar, where a doomed romance from the past ties in with the present. The film examines a complex fusion of mythology, folklore, and mystery, drawing inspiration from Ashwatthama, the immortal warrior from the Mahabharata.
There are just two songs left to film as principal photography draws to a close. A Diwali 2025 release is currently the makers' goal.
