Ayesha Takia’s husband, Farhan Azmi, was arrested in Goa following an altercation over alleged rash driving, leading to a heated incident that the actress later described as a “night of horror.” The former Bollywood actress took to Instagram to share her ordeal, stating that her husband and son were “brutally bullied and scared for their life” after being confronted by a large group of locals.

According to reports, the incident occurred in Candolim, where Farhan Azmi, a businessman and son of politician Abu Azmi, was driving a luxury SUV. Locals allegedly stopped him, accusing him of rash driving. What followed was a tense confrontation, with Ayesha Takia claiming that her family was unfairly targeted and harassed due to their Maharashtra roots and the car they were driving.

“They were tormented for hours, with locals cursing them for being from Maharashtra and driving a large car,” Ayesha wrote. “Farhan called the police for help, but instead of receiving assistance, he ended up being charged.”

The situation escalated when Farhan reportedly warned the crowd to back off, mentioning that he had a licensed firearm. The actress expressed shock over the turn of events, stating that even when the police arrived, they were unable to control the mob.

“My husband and son were brutally bullied and scared for their life as local Goan goons mobbed, threatened, and tormented them for hours. They even badly roughed up the police who were called by my husband to protect our son and him,” she claimed.

Ayesha further alleged that there was growing hostility towards people from Maharashtra in Goa. “The hatred for Maharashtra has reached unbelievable heights in Goa… they repeatedly cursed Farhan and my son for being from Maharashtra and having a big car. The police, in turn, filed a complaint against Farhan when he was the one who dialed 100 for help against a large crowd of almost 150 people.”

Despite the chaotic events, both Farhan Azmi and the locals involved were eventually taken to the Calangute police station, where they were given the opportunity to file complaints. However, according to reports, both sides refused to do so.

The North Goa Superintendent of Police, Akshat Kaushal, confirmed that the police intervened but faced resistance from the locals, who tried to prevent them from taking Farhan Azmi into custody. “Finally, both parties involved in the altercation were brought to the Calangute police station. They were given the opportunity to file complaints, but both parties refused to do so,” he stated. Since the altercation occurred in a public place and disturbed the peace, a state-initiated complaint was filed by the police.

Ayesha Takia insisted that they had “video proof and evidence, including CCTV footage,” which would be shared with authorities. “We are cooperating with the law enforcement agencies, and we believe in the justice of the system and our Indian courts,” she wrote.
