In an exclusive interaction with Filmfare, Anushka Sharma opened up about her relationship with Virat Kohli, offering rare insights into their life together and the deep bond they share. Known for being grounded and fiercely private, Anushka’s reflections present a glimpse of the woman behind the stardom — one who values love, respect, and personal growth in equal measure.
Anushka describes her marriage to Virat with deep affection, calling it a union built on friendship and mutual understanding. “I’m married to my best friend. I’m married to my confidant. I’m married to someone I love so dearly just because of the human being that he is,” she shared with heartfelt honesty. Their relationship, while often in the public eye, thrives on moments of stillness and shared solitude. “When we’re together, the world ceases to exist,” she adds, capturing the depth of their emotional bond.
While Virat is often seen as an intense, fiery figure on the cricket field, Anushka paints a completely different picture of him at home. “He’s one of the calmest persons I’ve met. Off the field, he’s so relaxed... He’s the most shaant person I know. I look at him and I’m like, ‘Wow! You’re so chill,’” she laughed, addressing the contrast between his public and private persona.
The early days of their marriage were particularly challenging due to their packed schedules. “During the first six months of our marriage, we spent 21 or 22 days together... We were hardly together in Mumbai. In fact, the staff at home gets so happy whenever they see us together at home,” Anushka recalls. Despite their professional commitments, they make conscious efforts to nurture their relationship, placing no unrealistic demands on each other. “I’m never going to be like, ‘Oh please spend more time with me at the cost of your work’. No, please do your work. He’s the same with me,” she emphasized.

Professionally, Anushka is now gearing up for a much-awaited return to the big screen. After a hiatus focused on motherhood and personal priorities, she will star in PK 2 and Sultan 2, both sequels to her earlier blockbuster films. PK 2, likely to feature Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, and Sultan 2, reuniting her with Salman Khan, promise to bring her back to the spotlight with strong, central roles.
Another key project, Chakda ‘Xpress, a sports biopic based on former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, was initially set for release on Netflix. However, due to budget concerns and creative disagreements, the release has been delayed. The makers are now considering other platforms to ensure the film reaches audiences with the impact it deserves.
