Amid the soaring success and heartfelt reception of Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, attention has now shifted to Anurag Basu’s upcoming untitled romantic drama featuring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela.
Speculation about whether Basu's film was being altered to avoid thematic similarities started to circulate as Saiyaara dominated both headlines and hearts. Even possible script revisions and production delays were alluded to in the reports.
In an interview with Mid-Day, Anurag Basu clarified these rumours. “Mohit and I are very close. I’m happy for his film’s success,” he shared, putting to rest any notion of professional rivalry. He further clarified, “In my film, the girl doesn’t have dementia or any [other condition]. We are not rewriting or re-shooting.”
The only similarity between the two projects, according to Basu, is that both of the male leads are rock stars.
He added that he knew from the start that Saiyaara's female lead suffers from Alzheimer's, so he wrote his story in a unique way.

Due to scheduling conflicts, the Kartik-Sreeleela film that was originally scheduled for an earlier release has now been rescheduled for early 2026. Anticipation is still high despite the postponement, particularly in light of Sreeleela's rapidly expanding fan base and Kartik Aaryan's solidifying reputation as a romantic hero.
With Anurag Basu at the helm, renowned for his emotionally rich storytelling and music-driven narratives, audiences are eagerly awaiting a compelling and fresh cinematic experience.
