Bollywood's well-known director Anurag Basu spoke about a few actors seeking an 8-hour work shift. He said that he personally doesn't like to work long hours.
He spoke in context with Deepika Padukone seeking an eight-hour shift after she became a mom last year.
Deepika Padukone ruffled quite a few feathers when she decided to walk out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, seeking an eight-hour shift along with a few other demands.
In an interview with Firstpost, Anurag Basu has come out in support of the actress and says, "I also don’t like long-hour shifts at work. My actors never complain about long hours or stress at work. So, I absolutely agree with what Deepika Padukone had to say. It’s a film; I never give my actors a chance to complain about this."
Anurag Basu also added that he wants his actors to be happy while working.
"I want my actors to be very happy on set and know their character well. I don’t give too much information to them before the shoot begins. Let them discover their roles, and this is the method I have been following for ages," he further said.
Deepika was previously in discussions to play alongside Prabhas in the forthcoming action flick 'Spirit', directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. However, following her reported departure from the movie, suspicion surfaced that she had wanted an 8-hour workday, a cut of the film's revenues, and a request not to deliver her dialogues in Telugu - conditions that apparently did not sit well with the filmmaker. She was eventually replaced by Triptii Dimri.
Talking about Anurag Basu, his recently directed movie Metro In Dino is doing well at the box office and has also earned praise from the critics.
The musical romantic drama Metro... In Dino, is a spiritual sequel to Anurag Basu’s Life in a... Metro (2007). It features an ensemble cast which includes Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
The movie has collected Rs 22.15 crore in five days of its release and is still going steady.
