Andaaz Apna Apna re release collection

On Friday, April 25, exactly 30 years after its initial release, the beloved comedy Andaz Apna Apna, which starred Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor, made a triumphant comeback to the big screen. Alongside recently released films like Sunny Deol's Jaat, Akshay Kumar-R. Madhavan's Kesari 2, and Emraan Hashmi's Ground Zero, the cult classic was re-released.

Andaz Apna Apna has succeeded in carving out a niche for itself in spite of fierce competition. The box office figures show that audiences are increasingly eager to see this well-loved comedy again.

The movie made Rs 25 lakh on its first day of release and Rs 30 lakh on Saturday, a slight but consistent increase. According to a Pinkvilla report, this raises the total for the two days to Rs 55 lakh.

On day one, the movie had already sold 5,500 tickets at major national chains like Inox and Cinepolis, and on day two, the numbers slightly increased. It is anticipated that Sunday's collections will increase even more due to positive word-of-mouth and nostalgic appeal.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2 continues to lead among current releases, having earned a solid Rs 7 crore on Saturday. Sunny Deol’s Jaat followed with Rs 1.36 crore, while Ground Zero collected Rs 1.90 crore on its second day.

Originally released in 1994, Andaz Apna Apna had a lifetime domestic net collection of Rs 5.15 crore and a worldwide gross of Rs 7.59 crore—a respectable figure at the time. However, it was initially labelled a flop. Director Rajkumar Santoshi addressed this during a conversation with Doordarshan, saying, "I wouldn’t use harsh words like it was a flop, it wasn’t a flop. It didn’t get the kind of response what we expected... it was taken off the theatres because the distributors didn’t have faith in it. They thought it won’t work."

Over the years, the film has grown in stature, becoming one of Bollywood’s most quoted and cherished comedies. Its re-release has reminded fans why it remains timeless.
