Two Strong Candidates in the Spotlight

Kunchacko Boban and Vijayaraghavan are in the lead. Kunchacko is a good candidate for the younger generation of Malayalam cinema because of his modern image.

Vijayaraghavan, on the other hand, has a lot of support from older members, making him a powerful pick. People who work in the industry think that if Vijayaraghavan officially runs for office, he might win without any competition because so many people revere him.

What do the AMMA elections mean?

On August 15, 2025, the next elections will fill 17 positions, including six key office-bearer roles and 11 members of the executive committee. The nomination process started on July 17, and a lot of members are interested.

More than 30 people are likely to run, and five people were nominated on the first day. New People Want Important Jobs Baburaj, an actor, has said he wants to run for general secretary, and he is expected to file his nomination soon.

Another possible contender getting a lot of attention is actress Shwetha Menon, who used to be an AMMA office-bearer and is regarded for being a strong leader.

Members of the industry are keeping a close eye on her, even though she hasn't formally announced her entry. More and more young and older stars are getting involved It is said that actors like Tovino Thomas, Tini Tom, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Vinu Mohan, Suresh Krishna, and Jayan Cherthala are going to run for different positions.

Their participation shows that both older and younger actors are once again interested in shaping AMMA's future and direction.

Deadlines Coming Up

The deadline for submitting nominations is July 24. With only a few days left, the election activity is expected to pick up. Many people see the election as a turning point for AMMA. They want a leader who can reconcile tradition with the evolving world of Malayalam cinema.
