Amitabh Bachchan sends good wishes to Sanam Teri Kasam

Sanam Teri Kasam’s re-release in cinemas has garnered an exceptional response from audiences. The romantic drama, which features Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane in lead roles, originally released in 2016. At that time, the film did not fare well at the box office, grossing only around Rs 9 crore, Now, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan wished the best for the release and the lead actor reacts.

The re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam has been breaking records, and Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has extended his congratulations to the team.

On Saturday, Big B shared a poster of the film on his Instagram account, writing in the caption, “All good wishes for this re-release .."

Harshvardhan Rane was quick to respond in the comments section, expressing his gratitude to the iconic actor. “God noticed," he wrote.

Looking at the  craze of the re-release, the directors of the film, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru hinted at the sequel and said that the details of this will be shared soon, but later the producer of Sanam Teri Kasam, Mukut issued a copyright on the directors.

According to Mukut, the rights to the film lie with him, not the directors, and any sequel announcement without his involvement will not move forward.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Deepak Mukut addressed the issue and clarified, “The IP of Sanam Teri Kasam belongs to me since I am its producer. So, the rights to make a sequel or even a prequel or a remake rest with me. In fact, I announced the sequel in September 2024 with Harshvardhan Rane in the lead. As for the directors (Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru), I haven’t had any discussion with them. They haven’t met and spoken to me about it. I have not finalized any director.”

According to Sacnilk, the re-release has been a huge surprise, collecting over Rs 40 crore so far, with expectations for further earnings. It is now the second-highest-earning re-release in India, just behind the 2022 hit Tumbbad, which earned around Rs 32 crore. It has surpassed records set by Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli and Ranbir Kapoor’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Harshvardhan Rane has also announced his new film, Deewaniyat, which is slated for a release later this year.
