Amitabh Bachchan recalls witnessing Shah Rukh Khan scolding Suhana at Mannat

Shah Rukh Khan may be celebrated as Bollywood’s King of Romance, but away from the big screen, he slips comfortably into the role of a strict yet loving father. Amitabh Bachchan recently recalled a moment that highlighted this side of SRK, sharing an anecdote about how he once saw the superstar discipline his daughter, Suhana Khan, right in front of him at Mannat.

The revelation came during an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 15 in 2023 when Suhana appeared on the show with director Zoya Akhtar and her The Archies co-star Vedang Raina.

During their conversation, Amitabh Bachchan asked Suhana who the stricter parent was between Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan.

Without hesitation, Suhana named her mother. But Big B chuckled and revealed a different memory that suggested otherwise.

Big B recounted visiting Mannat years ago for a meeting with SRK. In the middle of their discussion, a young Suhana walked in and asked her father if she could swim in their newly built pool.

Much to her surprise, Shah Rukh immediately said, “No, you will not swim,” and sent her away. Big B remembered laughing at the incident, adding that from that moment on, he was convinced it was Suhana’s father who was stricter.

Sharing the memory on the show, Big B noted how it contradicted Suhana’s claim about her mother being tougher.

Suhana, however, had no recollection of the episode. Giggling, she told the host she didn’t remember her father ever scolding her. She even joked that it was perhaps “the only time my dad said no to me.”

Amitabh Bachchan continued to tease her, insisting that SRK had indeed been strict that day. Suhana laughed it off, still unconvinced, and said she didn’t believe it. Wrapping up the exchange, Big B quipped, “It’s good you forgot. Now, when Shah Rukh watches this show, he will remember.”

On the work front, Suhana Khan made her much-awaited acting debut in 2023 with Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix film The Archies.

Next, she is set to star alongside her superstar father in King. Production is currently on hold after Shah Rukh injured his shoulder while filming an intense action sequence in Mumbai, but fans are eagerly waiting to see the father-daughter duo on screen together for the first time.
