Amber Heard is making her much-anticipated return to acting after a three-year hiatus following her high-profile legal battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp. Having spent the past few years living away from the public eye in Spain, the actress is now stepping back into the spotlight—not on the big screen, but on stage. Amber is set to star in a brand-new theatrical production titled Spirit of the People.
The play, which was written by the well-known playwright Jeremy O. Harris and directed by Katina Medina Mora, will be presented at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2025. Known for her roles in films like Drop Dead Sexy, All The Boys Love Mandy Lane, and Aquaman, Heard's return is noteworthy.
Lio Mehiel, who won praise from critics for his performance in the Sundance blockbuster movie Mutt, and Brandon Flynn, who is best known for his part in 13 Reasons Why, join her on stage. Alongside the trio will be the Tony Award nominees James Cusati-Moyer and Ato Blankson-Wood, along with Amandla Jahava, Emma Ramos, Julian Sanchez, Zachary Booth, and Tonatiuh.
Spirit of the People explores complex and difficult subjects; according to its official description, it "confronts uncomfortable truths about land and what it means to destroy it." The script, which deviates from Jeremy O. Harris's previous works, uses prose and Spanish to give the story a deeper emotional depth.
The Williamstown Theatre Festival's 71st season will also feature a range of shows, such as revivals of Not About Nightingales and Camino Real by Tennessee Williams.

It will also feature original pieces like Many Happy Returns, a dance piece co-created by Monica Bill Barnes and Robbie Saenz de Viteri, and The Things Around Us, a solo musical composed and performed by Ahamefule J. Oluo.
On the personal front, Amber Heard welcomed her twin babies and shared the joyous news on this year's Mother's Day. She also has a son, Ocean and daughter Agnes.
