Aly Goni has found himself at the centre of a social media storm after a video of him not chanting Ganpati Bappa Morya during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations went viral.
The actor revealed in an interview with Filmygyan that he has since been receiving multiple death threats online and strongly warned trolls against dragging his family or girlfriend, Jasmin Bhasin, into the controversy.
Aly said, “Mujhe death threats aa rahe hain bhar-bhar ke. Mere emails bhare hue hain, mere comments bhare hue hain. Log tweet kar rahe hain ki mere liye FIR karo, for what? Main toh bohot normal si baat bolta hoon ki main toh Musalman hoon, isliye mere par daala gaya, par kai Hindu hain jo Ganpati nahi laate hain, kya woh Hindu nahi hain?”
He explained that his religion does not allow him to offer prayers outside of namaz, which is why he refrained from chanting during the puja. Aly stressed that it was his first time attending Ganpati celebrations, and he simply remained silent without intending to offend anyone.
The actor also issued a fiery warning to those abusing him and targeting Jasmin Bhasin. He said, “Ye jo dhamki dene wale hain ya jo Jasmin ko gali dene wale hain, inme se ek mein bhi himmat hai toh mere saamne aakar bole, I swear on God, main gardan kaat kar haath mein de dunga. Meri maa, behen ya Jasmine ke baare mein koi bolega toh I will not tolerate.”

The controversy erupted after Aly attended Ganpati puja at the home of his Laughter Chefs co-star Krushna Abhishek and Kashmera Shah. He was accompanied by Jasmin Bhasin. In the viral clip, Jasmin and others are seen chanting Ganpati Bappa Morya, while Aly remains silent. At one point, Jasmin even urges him to join in, but he chooses not to. Soon after, social media users accused him of disrespect, sparking heated trolling.
Aly Goni was last seen on Laughter Chefs Season 2, hosted by Harpal Singh Sokhi and Bharti Singh. The season concluded in July, with Elvish Yadav and Karan Kundrra lifting the trophy. Aly, paired with Reem Shaikh, finished as runner-up.
