Telugu actor Allu Arjun was granted bail today, January 3, in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case that occurred in Hyderabad in early December. The incident took place on December 4 during the screening of the highly anticipated movie Pushpa 2, which Allu Arjun stars in. The court had previously reserved its order on the actor's bail plea on Monday.
In a significant development, the court has asked Allu Arjun to submit a bond of Rs 50,000 as part of the bail conditions. This move comes after a tragic incident at the Sandhya Theatre, where a 35-year-old woman lost her life in the stampede, and her eight-year-old son was hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the chaos. The stampede occurred as large crowds gathered for the premiere of Pushpa 2, a highly anticipated film featuring the popular actor.
Following the tragic incident, a case was filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management. The charges were brought under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s family. The family blamed the lack of proper security measures and crowd control at the event for the tragedy.
On December 13, Allu Arjun was arrested by the city police in connection with the death of the woman. However, the actor was granted a four-week interim bail by the Telangana High Court on the same day, and he was subsequently released from a Hyderabad prison on December 14. The granting of regular bail today follows a detailed review of the case, with the court considering the circumstances surrounding the incident and the actor’s legal representation.
While Allu Arjun’s fans have expressed support, the case has raised important concerns about safety protocols at large public events. The investigation into the stampede continues as authorities work to determine the full extent of the responsibilities of those involved.
