Akshay Kumar reveals Twinkle Khanna teases him for his patriotic films: My wife says how many times will you save the country?

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna started dating in 1999.

Akshay Kumar has been ruling the Bollywood for more than three decades. He has starred in multiple genres, but he gradually shifted his focus to patriotic films. He has starred and produced several patriotic films and his wife Twinkle Khanna has recently mocked about his film choice.

During the recent appearance at the Republic Plenary Summit, Akshay has revealed that Twinkle frequently mocked him about the number of times he had saved the day. The actor acknowledged that since he has launched his production company, Cape of Good Films, he has produced numerous films focused on patriotism and national themes.

Akshay further noted, “Even my wife teases me and asks, how many times will you save the country? But, we’ve seen so many Hollywood films where whenever there’s some issue in the world, it’s America that saves the day, be it from asteroids, terrorists or aliens.”

The actor said that it made him wonder why India doesn't create more films highlighting its achievements and capabilities? He recalled, “So I wondered what the rest of the world would be doing if America was always saving the day? Do we not know what India can do?"

He added, "That’s when I made Airlift, Mission Mangal and Sky Force. I will keep on making films about my country even if they don’t make much money.”

Akshay and Twinkle have been together for around 26 years. The couple spanked romance while working together in 1999. They tied the knot on January 17, 2001 and shared two kids, a son named Aarav and a daughter named Nitara.

On the professional front, Akshay was last seen in Sky Force with Veer Pahariya in his debut role. Nimrat Kaur, and Sara Ali Khan also featured in the pivotal role.

However, the actor has a series of new projects in his pipeline. Akshay will soon star in Kesari Chapter 2, Jolly LLB 3, and Housefull 5. He is also shooting for Bhooth Bangla, Welcome to the Jungle, and Hera Pheri 3. Besides this, he will also star in the upcoming Telugu film, Kannappa.
