Away from his health regimen, the actor’s upcoming project Jolly LLB 3 has been attracting attention of a different kind.

The film, which also stars Arshad Warsi, has landed in legal trouble after a complaint was filed in a Pune court. Lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar has accused the film of mocking the legal system and disrespecting court proceedings.

According to the petition, a particular scene where judges are referred to as “mamu” has especially drawn criticism for being derogatory. Following this, the court has issued notices to both Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, asking them to appear on 28 September.

This isn’t the first time the franchise has been pulled up. In May 2024, the President of the Ajmer District Bar Association, Chandrabhan, also raised objections, claiming that the films portray judges and lawyers in ways that are “humorous and indecent.” His complaint even included a request to halt the shoot of Jolly LLB 3.

The Jolly LLB series has long been a hit with audiences. The first instalment came out in 2013 starring Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla, while the 2017 sequel featured Akshay Kumar in the lead role alongside Huma Qureshi.

The third film brings both Akshay and Arshad together, joined by a strong ensemble including Huma Qureshi, Saurabh Shukla, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao. Directed by Subhash Kapoor and produced by Star Studios, Jolly LLB 3 is already one of the most talked-about upcoming films of the year.
