Akshay Kumar and the entire team of Kesari 2 attended the grand premiere held in New Delhi on April 15, 3 days ahead of its release this week. While speaking at the event, Akshay Kumar made a special request to the viewers.

Akshay Kumar and the entire team of Kesari 2 attended the grand premiere held in New Delhi on April 15, 3 days ahead of its release this week. While speaking at the event, Akshay Kumar made a special request to the viewers.

Akshay specially requested everyone not to use their phones while watching Kesari 2 in the theatres and experience the film with all their attention.

While interacting at the event, Kumar urged the audience to put away their phones and focus attentively on the film’s dialogues. "I humbly request you all to please keep your phones in your pockets and listen to every dialogue of this film. It will mean a lot. If you try to check your Instagram during the movie, it will be a humiliation for the film. So I request everyone to keep their phones away."

The special screening was attended by several prominent political leaders and dignitaries including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BJP Members of Parliament Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj were present, along with Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, and Ashish Sood.

The film, which was directed by debutant Karan Singh Tyagi, tells the true story of lawyer C Sankaran Nair, who fought the British Empire in a court case in the 1920s.

The film centres on the 1924 defamation trial and is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire, which was written by Raghu Palat, Nair's great-grandson, and his wife Pushpa Palat. In this instance, Nair was sued after he exposed British atrocities in his published work by Michael O'Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab and the mastermind of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Kesari 2, produced by Karan Johar is set to release on April 18, 2025.
