Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar, Kesari Chapter 2 is scheduled for release on April 18. The film features Akshay Kumar in the role of legendary lawyer C. Sankaran Nair. It explores the lesser-known but powerful story behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, a tragic and pivotal moment in India’s freedom struggle.

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which took place on April 13, 1919, during the Baisakhi festival, saw British troops led by Brigadier General Reginald Dyer open fire on thousands of unarmed Indians protesting against the Rowlatt Act. The protestors were also demanding the release of national leaders Dr. Satyapal and Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew. According to British records, 291 people died, but Indian estimates suggest over 500 were killed, with 1,650 rounds fired without warning.

The film is a continuation of the 2019 movie Kesari, which depicted the legendary Battle of Saragarhi where 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army fought against 10,000 Pashtun tribesmen. Kesari Chapter 2 aims to dive deeper into India’s colonial history and shed light on a narrative that has often been overlooked in mainstream cinema.

With a strong cast, a gripping story, and a heartfelt tribute to history, Kesari Chapter 2is already building anticipation among audiences. The team’s spiritual visit to the Golden Temple adds an emotional layer to the film’s journey to the big screen.
