As the country celebrated the joyous festival of Raksha Bandhan on Saturday, celebrities too took to social media to honour the cherished bond they share with their siblings.
Among them, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar shared a heartfelt message for his sister Alka Hiranandani, giving fans yet another glimpse into their warm relationship.
Taking to Instagram, Akshay posted a picture of Alka performing the rituals before tying the rakhi. In the snap, she is seen wearing a yellow suit with a dupatta over her head, while Akshay sports a blue shirt and a black beanie.
Alongside the image, he penned an emotional caption, “Aankhein band hai, toh maa dikh rahi hai. Aur aankhein khol kar teri smile. Love you Alka. Happy Rakhi.”
By comparing his sister's smile with the solace of their mother's presence, the post masterfully expressed his love and respect for her. Because of their close and loving relationship, Akshay has made it a custom to send Alka Raksha Bandhan greetings virtually every year.
Despite being the sister of one of Bollywood's biggest stars, Alka Hiranandani, who is married to real estate developer Surendra Hiranandani of Hiranandani Constructions, has kept a low profile. Fans are always intrigued by her infrequent public appearances with Akshay, though.

Siblings show their love, appreciation, and pledge of protection for one another during Raksha Bandhan, a festival honouring the unique bond between brothers and sisters. This sentiment was perfectly encapsulated in Akshay's post, which struck a deep chord.
On the professional front, Akshay Kumar was last seen in a cameo appearance as Lord Shiva in Kannappa and also starred in Housefull 5. But on this festive day, it was his role as a devoted brother that truly stole the spotlight.
