Veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, known for his patriotic films, passed away at the age of 87 in Mumbai. He had been battling age-related health issues. Fondly called ‘Bharat Kumar’, he earned immense love and respect for his contributions to Indian cinema, especially through films like Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, Shor, and Kranti. His films were not just popular; they carried a deep emotional and nationalistic sentiment that touched audiences across generations.

As the news of his passing spread, several celebrities from the film industry paid their tributes. Among them, Ajay Devgn shared one of the most heartfelt and personal messages. He thanked Manoj Kumar for giving his father, Veeru Devgan, his first break in the film industry. Ajay wrote, “Manoj Kumar ji was not just a cinematic icon—he was a personal milestone in my family’s journey.”

Ajay explained how his father got his first big opportunity as an action director in Manoj Kumar’s film Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. Their bond continued through to Kranti, which turned out to be one of the most iconic patriotic films in Indian cinema. Ajay added, “From there, their collaboration continued all the way to Kranti, creating moments that are now part of Indian cinema’s golden history.”

Ajay’s tribute went beyond professional acknowledgment. He said, “As Indian cinema bids farewell to its Bharat Kumar—a storyteller, a patriot, and a legend—I also wish to say thank you for shaping my father’s journey and for inspiring countless storytellers like me. Your legacy, Manoj ji, is eternal.”

Ajay’s words struck a chord with many fans who remembered Manoj Kumar not just for his acting and directing skills, but also for the impact he had on others’ careers. His ability to give opportunities to newcomers and his passion for patriotic themes made him stand apart in the industry.

Other film personalities also paid tribute, but Ajay Devgn’s message highlighted the personal influence Manoj Kumar had on his family’s legacy in Bollywood. It showed the emotional connection and gratitude that went beyond the screen.

Manoj Kumar, whose real name was Harikrishna Giri Goswami, became a household name in the 1960s and 70s. His films were full of passion, pride, and messages of national unity. With his passing, the film industry has lost a true legend, but his work and the lives he touched—like that of Veeru and Ajay Devgn—ensure that his story will be remembered forever.
