Aamir Khan's cult classic Andaz Apna Apna returned to the big screens today (April 25) with a special re-release. To mark the occasion, the makers organised a celebratory screening in Mumbai. However, the event was marked by the noticeable absence of Aamir Khan.
The actor later explained that he chose to skip the event due to the tragic terror attack that occurred in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, just days earlier. The April 22 incident claimed the lives of 25 tourists and a local resident in a brutal act of violence.
“I was reading reports about what happened at Pahalgam in Kashmir. I have been badly affected by the senseless killing of innocents. I was in no state to go (to the preview). I will see it sometime later this week,” Aamir said, as quoted by Bollywood Hungama.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Andaz Apna Apna stars Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor. Aamir and Salman play Amar and Prem, two goofy, lovable characters who scheme to win over a wealthy heiress but end up entangled in a whirlwind of confusion, mistaken identities, and comic chaos.

Originally released in 1994, the film did not fare well at the box office but went on to achieve cult status over the years through home entertainment and repeated television airings.
Reflecting on the film’s journey, Aamir shared, “Raj Santoshi and I were the only two people who believed in the film. We loved it. So, when it didn't work, we were both sad. And then it goes on to become my biggest success on home entertainment!!! Both Raj and I were finally redeemed.”
Up next, Aamir Khan will be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to his 2007 critically acclaimed film Taare Zameen Par.
