After Blue Saree viral fame, Girija Oak faces online scam, alerts fans

Marathi and Hindi actress Girija Oak, who has become a national talking point after her 'blue saree look' went massively viral across social media, has issued an urgent public warning about an impersonator account attempting to solicit donations. The actress, known for her roles in films like Taare Zameen Par and Jawan, has recently experienced a dramatic surge in online popularity following a viral clip from an interview. However, this sudden fame has also attracted unscrupulous elements.

Taking to her official Instagram Stories, Oak shared a screenshot of the imposter account and categorically stated: "This account is fake. Beware! Don't give anyone any money! I would always ask for donations from own account. Come onn guys."

The warning comes after the fake profile, which allegedly claimed to represent the actress's PR team, was reportedly asking users for financial contributions to a non-profit organization. Oak’s swift action is a crucial reminder to fans to verify the authenticity of social media handles, especially when financial requests are involved.

This incident is the latest negative side-effect of her overnight virality. Earlier, the actress had to address the circulation of deeply concerning AI-morphed and sexualized images of herself, which she condemned as "vulgar" and "objectifying." She expressed distress about the potential impact of this content on her 12-year-old son, urging creators and consumers of such altered content to reconsider their actions.

Despite the challenges of navigating new-found internet fame, Oak remains grateful for the love and attention, hoping the exposure will ultimately lead more people to watch her work in films, series, and theatre. Fans are advised to follow only her official, verified accounts to stay updated and avoid falling victim to online scams.
