TAamir Khan recently revealed he has given up smoking, a habit he had struggled with for years. The announcement was made during the trailer launch of his son Junaid Khan’s film, Loveyapa. Sharing his experience, Aamir candidly admitted his love for smoking but emphasised its harmful effects.
“I have given up smoking. Smoking is something I love very much, and it’s something I enjoy,” Aamir confessed. “For years, I’ve been smoking cigarettes. Now, I smoke a pipe. But tobacco is not good for health, and no one should do it,” he added, urging fans to quit the harmful habit.
Meanwhile, Aamir’s ex-wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao, reflected on their time together, especially during the making of her first film Dhobi Ghat. Speaking to Filmfare, Kiran revealed how she leaned on Aamir during stressful moments, often snapping at him when things got overwhelming.
“I tortured him a little bit,” Kiran admitted. “He would give me some suggestions, and I’d say, ‘No, do it like this.’ Since it was my first film and we had a very small budget—a micro-budget—there was this constant panic that I wouldn’t get to do what I wanted.”
Despite the pressure, Kiran explained that she could be patient with others but took the liberty of venting her frustrations on Aamir because of their close relationship. “I had to show I knew what I was doing to others, but with Aamir, I could snap because he was my husband,” she shared.
Kiran also mentioned that she and Aamir still consider each other’s families as their own even after divorce. She added that Aamir’s mother, Zeenat Hussain, continues to be her mother-in-law, and his children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan, remain close friends she holds dear.
