The ongoing dispute between ADOR and NJZ (formerly NewJeans) has escalated further, with the parents of the five members accusing the agency of attempting to "completely block" their activities. In response, ADOR has denied these claims, stating that their legal actions are meant to maintain contractual obligations rather than restrict the group.
On March 6, the parents of NJZ members had released a statement alleging that ADOR expanded its injunction on February 11, seeking to prohibit not just advertisements but also musical activities like songwriting, composing, performing, and singing. They accused ADOR of trying to suppress NJZ's rebranded career and prevent them from moving forward independently.
Following these allegations, ADOR issued an official statement denying the claims. The company clarified that while the original injunction was meant to preserve the group's contractual status and prevent them from signing independent advertisement deals, NJZ went ahead with new song releases and international performance announcements.
“While the injunction was to preserve the status of the contract and prevent them from signing advertisement contracts, they continued to release new songs and announce large-scale overseas performances, so we had no choice. This is not to restrict them but to do these activities together with ADOR while keeping the contract," ADOR was quoted by Koreaboo.
The agency also addressed accusations of pressuring concert organisers to cancel NJZ’s performances. They firmly denied any such actions, adding, “As we have revealed, we have never pressured the concert organizers or expanded the application as a retaliatory measure. We will explain the misunderstandings in court tomorrow and seek the judgment that ADOR is the agency that manages NewJeans.”
The controversy intensified when NJZ recently unveiled a new logo and launched independent social media accounts outside of ADOR’s control, including on X, TikTok, and YouTube. This move signaled their firm stance on separating from their former agency.
In response, ADOR quickly issued a strong statement, declaring that NJZ’s new accounts were unauthorized and a violation of their existing contracts. Meanwhile, in a live broadcast, the NJZ members—Danielle, Hanni, Haerin, Hyein, and Minji—hinted that they were already working under a different management, reinforcing their intent to operate outside ADOR’s influence.
