Heeramandi cast celebrates one amazing year of the show's release

Sanjay Leela Bhansali made his OTT debut with Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar in 2024. The Netflix series was a massive hit and instantly bagged the trending spot with several fans copying Aditi Rao’s iconic Gaja Gamini walk.

The series captivated the audience with breathtaking performances, gorgeous costumes and jewellery, the elaborate sets, and more. However, the cast of Heeramandi is celebrating a year of success and reflecting on the impact the show has had on the audience.

Manisha Koirala, who stars as the chief courtesan of Shahi Maha, Mallikajaan, shared, “It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since Heeramandi released, and yet the love keeps pouring in.”

She added, “I still have people — from all walks of life — reaching out to me, sharing how the show moved them, how they connected with my character, and how they’d love to see more of me on screen. It fills my heart with so much joy and gratitude.”

The actress said that Heeramandi had been more than just a project for her, it was an emotional and artistic journey under Sanjay Leela Bhansali's incredible vision. She felt humbled that it had become a cultural moment and expressed gratitude for being part of something magical, cherishing the experience with love.

However, Sonakshi Sinha, who played the dual role, also talked about celebrating one year of the series. She said, “Heeramandi is, and will always remain, one of the most creatively fulfilling works of my career, thanks to Sanjay sir and Netflix.”

She elaborated, “To share a global platform with such a talented ensemble, under the guidance of a true master like Sanjay Sir, was an experience I wouldn’t trade for anything. It’s something I will always hold close — truly precious.”

Aditi Rao Hydari added, “Heeramandi turns one, and my heart is full. Cheering for Sanjay sir, our captain, and the incredible team — Moin sir, Sudeep da, Mahesh sir, Chang, Kruthi, our champion ADs, Netflix, and the entire village that brought this universe to life.”

She expressed gratitude for the joy and love, saying it was a gift that kept giving. She thanked everyone who had welcomed her character, Bibbojaan, into their hearts, calling it an eternal love. She also mentioned being overwhelmed by the continued engagement on her social media, particularly with the viral walk trend.

Richa Chadha also celebrated the success on her social media handle. She shared a series of photos from the show and penned in the caption, “Thank you to everyone who worked on the show and everyone who watched it! thank you @netflix_in , @monika__shergill @tanyabami for backing @bhansaliproductions vision.”

She continued, “Love you sir , you're a dream. A memorable experience and an unforgettable spectacle of a show! Love u dear co-stars, and congrats Moin Beg… The show has created a legacy like no other, and its impact stands as a true testament to that.”

However, Heeramandi male lead Taha Shah Badussha expressed gratitude to the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Netflix for creating the series and allowing him to be a part of it. He also addressed the ‘national crush’ recognition and called it ‘humbling.’

The actor also took to his Instagram handle and reflected on the success. He shared a video of Aditi Rao’s viral walk along with a series of iconic moments of the series and penned, “Ek saal baad bhi, Heeramandi ka noor utna hi roshan hai… Celebrating 1 year of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.”

Meanwhile, Sanjeeda Shaikh noted that even after a year, Heeramandi still felt present in her life. She mentioned receiving ongoing messages and being stopped by people to discuss the show, which she found surreal.

She also admitted feeling overwhelmed by the love and obsession the show received, saying it had changed her life both professionally and personally. She credited the show with helping her grow as an actor and felt grateful for its global reach and impact. She added that the experience still felt magical and that she would always be grateful for it.

However, Sharmin Segal noted that the Netflix series will always hold a special place in her heart. She also appreciated the opportunity to work with the Bhanshali production and the talent cast, adding, “It’s an experience that will stay with me forever.”

Heeramandi was notably the only Indian title to feature on Google’s Most Searched List in 2024. The series received huge success, with the makers giving the greenlit to Season 2.

The series revolves around the courtesans in Heera Mandi, a red-light district in Lahore during the 1940s, amid the Indian independence movement against British rule.
