Actress and fashion icon Sonam Kapoor Ahuja recently made headlines for a heartwarming gesture: she chopped off 12 inches of her long, black hair to donate to charity. The actress, known for her voluminous tresses, took to Instagram to share a video of her dramatic haircut and proudly display her refreshed look.
In the candid clip, Sonam revealed the motivation behind her decision. "Hi everyone, so I decided to cut 12 inches of my hair. It doesn't seem that much on this video, but it's a foot of hair," she explained, crediting her father, Anil Kapoor, for her impressive genetic predisposition to long, thick hair. "I have very long hair and thick hair. And I just felt it was time to kind of chop a lot of it off and give it away to charity." She also acknowledged her hairstylist, Pete, who has been instrumental in caring for her hair over the past few years.
Despite the significant cut, Sonam showed that her hair remains "really long." She expressed her contentment with the new style, stating, "I'm very happy and refreshed for the summer. Lots of love!"
Her caption echoed her sentiments, simply stating, "Decided to cut off 12 inches off my hair and give it away! @peteburkill thanks @anilskapoor for the genes."
Beyond her philanthropic act, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja is gearing up for her next film, “Battle of Bittora.” The movie is an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's 2010 novel of the same name, chronicling the unique love story of two aspiring politicians who find themselves in a challenging situation as they run against each other in elections. The drama is set to be produced under the banner of Anil Kapoor Film, in collaboration with Communication Network.
