Rajesh Kumar, widely recognized for his role as Rosesh in the popular TV show Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai, transitioned into farming several years ago. Recently, he expressed his disappointment over missing the opportunity to present his venture on Shark Tank India, despite applying for the show.
In an interview with Hindi Rush, Rajesh candidly discussed the challenges he faced in the organic farming industry, where he focused on growing and selling chemical-free vegetables. He revealed that his venture incurred a significant financial loss of approximately Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 crore.
Rajesh Kumar elaborated that his organic farming venture struggled due to a lack of timely funding. He admitted facing difficulties in grasping investor terminology, particularly phrases like "bootstrapped" and "burn," which made it challenging for him to navigate the business side of the industry.
“Wherever I went, I spoke from my heart and that was the failure because these are corporate people, they want to see the numbers. I had numbers. I had kind of hit breakeven point but it started failing because of tech," he said as he spoke about being scammed by an app developer.
Rajesh further said, "Whenever I interacted with investors, I spoke with sincerity and passion. Unfortunately, that was my biggest mistake because the corporate world prioritizes numbers over emotion."
Rajesh had earlier shared that he had applied for Shark Tank India but was rejected after making it through two rounds. His comments appeared to subtly reference Anupam Mittal, the CEO of Shaadi.com and one of the investors on the show.

“When I went on Shark Tank, this is what I wanted to communicate. You aren’t from some other planet, you have made a lot of money, you have the resources, please market this. You should help me because there are things that I lack. At least sit with me,” he shared.
“You can arrange marriages and profit from it as a priest, but have you truly invested yourself in their union? You introduce two individuals, but do you actually know them? No, you don’t," he continued.
Rajesh wanted to highlight the dedication and effort required in farming and was keen to share this perspective with the panel of investors.
