On Saturday, Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko was taken into custody in relation to a drug-related matter, reported PTI.
After almost four hours of police interrogation, he was arrested for allegedly escaping from a Kochi hotel during a drug bust. He has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act's Sections 27 (drug consumption) and 29 (abetment and criminal conspiracy).
Police say that after Shine Tom Chacko's medical examination, additional legal proceedings will take place. The actor was officially summoned to appear before the Kochi City Police on Saturday for interrogation.
According to sources cited by PTI, the incident happened on Wednesday night when Shine escaped from his third-floor hotel room after spotting the DANSAF team arriving. He jumped onto a sheet that was draped over the second floor before escaping through the stairs.
Vincy Aloshious, a Malayalam actress, recently made grave accusations against Shine Tom Chacko, her co-star in Soothravakyam, alleging that he used drugs on the set of the movie.
Vincy detailed Shine's alleged unprofessional and disturbing behaviour during the shoot in a formal complaint she filed with the Kerala Film Chamber and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).

She stated that his unpredictable behaviour made her feel very uneasy and that she witnessed him exhale a white, powdery substance during a rehearsal, which raised questions about potential substance use on set.
Crucially, Vincy had filed her complaint with the explicit assurance that her identity would remain secret during the inquiry. She was deeply disappointed and felt betrayed by the way the matter was handled, though, because this confidentiality was not upheld.
