Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has once again opened up about his long-standing differences with Shah Rukh Khan. Known for lending his voice to some of SRK's most iconic songs, Abhijeet addressed the ongoing rift during an interview with Bollywood Thikana, shedding light on the trolls and misunderstandings that have kept the feud alive.
Abhijeet clarified that while he doesn’t harbour personal animosity towards SRK, online trolls have exaggerated the situation. “We aren’t fighting. But the situation is being made worse because of these puny trolls who insist on butting into a matter concerning legends.”
Taking a sarcastic jab, Abhijeet remarked, “It was important for these differences to emerge. Had they not, how would ‘Lungi Dance’ exist? He can produce and sing his own songs; as it is, they call my tracks ‘Shah Rukh Khan’s songs.’” He acknowledged that SRK’s on-screen charisma often overshadowed the contributions of playback singers, which became a recurring theme in their collaborations.
Reflecting on his career, Abhijeet admitted that the peak of his success during collaborations with SRK shaped his decision-making. Following the blockbuster success of Yes Boss, he became highly selective, rejecting many projects unless they involved Shah Rukh. “I would turn down offers to sing for other stars, but the moment they told me it’s Shah Rukh’s song, I would go,” he confessed.
The singer also reacted to the viral mashup of Dua Lipa’s Levitating with his song Woh Ladki Jo, which credited Shah Rukh instead of the original singers. Abhijeet expressed his frustration, saying, the star on screen always gets the attention, while the singer’s contribution goes unnoticed.
