Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, made his Bollywood debut with Maharaj last year, but his sister, Ira Khan, has no intentions of entering the film industry. In a recent conversation, Ira shared insights into her relationship with Junaid, who is preparing for his upcoming film, Loveyapa.
Junaid, five years her senior, and Ira had a turbulent relationship during his school years, often engaging in frequent arguments. However, once Junaid completed his education, their bond shifted. Ira explained that their relationship grew stronger, and they became very close, supporting each other through various life stages. Despite their earlier conflicts, they now share a strong, understanding connection, highlighting how time and maturity can change sibling dynamics.
In an interview with People of India, Ira Khan spoke about her relationship with her brother Junaid, saying, "I don’t know whether this happens with all siblings but either I wanted to be exactly like him in some aspects, while in some aspects I had to be exactly the opposite. He liked Manchester United. So I had to not like Manchester United." She further mentioned, "We fought every single day till he finished school. When he went to college, he got a life, so he stopped troubling me and then we actually became very close. So it was a very big shift but it was a fun shift."
When asked about her relationship with her father, Aamir Khan, and whether she was aware of his celebrity status growing up, she responded, "I probably didn’t fully understand it. But I have known, since I could remember, that he is a celebrity." She also mentioned that students in her school were also aware. "I don’t think anyone judged me, but yeah, people wanted to be friends with me because they were excited about who my dad was. But I dont think anyone necessarily thought bad of me. At least not to my face."
"With all parents, until you’re a certain age, you don’t see them as people. You see them as your parents. And in that sense, it was the same. He would travel and be on shoot, and I lived with my mom. But he would always check if anyone in school was troubling me or if everything was fine. We played a lot of board games and we were very competitive. All three of us- Junaid, dad and me. During Covid, we spent a lot of time together," she further said.
Ira Khan has been actively supporting her brother Junaid Khan's upcoming film Loveyapa, which also stars Khushi Kapoor. Just yesterday, she shared a playful reel from the Loveyapa team, where Junaid, Khushi, and others are seen singing and dancing to the film’s title track. Ira couldn’t help but be surprised by her brother's lively, fun, and carefree side, which she hadn’t seen much before. In a lighthearted tone, she joked, "Who is this and what have you done to my brother?" Her post reflected her joy at seeing Junaid embrace this new, cheerful side of his personality, further fueling excitement for his big-screen debut.
