Aamir Khan Productions denies involvement in Coolie distribution and promotions, says cameo is just a friendly gesture

Ever since it was revealed that Aamir Khan will be making a cameo appearance in Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Coolie, excitement among fans has skyrocketed. However, the buzz surrounding the superstar’s involvement has also led to several rumours—particularly about Aamir playing a larger role in the film’s distribution and promotional strategy.

Addressing these speculations, Aamir Khan Productions has come forward to clear the air. In an official statement, a spokesperson from the production house confirmed that Aamir’s involvement is strictly limited to a cameo role, and there is no truth to reports suggesting he is managing or influencing Coolie's distribution.

“Neither Aamir Khan nor anyone from his team is involved in the distribution of Coolie,” said the spokesperson. “Mr. Khan has not contacted any distributor or exhibitor. His cameo is purely out of his personal bond with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and superstar Rajinikanth.”

This clarification comes after several reports claimed that Aamir had called PVR-Inox Head Ajay Bijli to push for more screens and favourable showtimes for Coolie, which is slated to release on August 14. These claims were also dismissed by PVR-Inox, with a representative stating, “Aamir has no financial stake in Coolie. These reports are baseless.”

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan and his team are basking in the success of their recent release Sitaare Zameen Par, which debuted on YouTube and has received a massive positive response. According to insiders, the team is focused on their own projects and has no commercial interest in Coolie.

As Coolie gears up for release, it is set for a massive box office clash with War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. With stakes high and expectations even higher, director Lokesh Kanagaraj recently visited the Shiva temple in Tiruvannamalai to offer prayers ahead of the big day.

Taking to social media, Kanagaraj thanked his team for their dedication, writing, “140 days of shoot across 2 years! This project is very close to my heart. Proud of you boys!”

The countdown to August 14 has begun.
