Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is gearing up for his highly anticipated sequel, Sitaare Zameen Par. Fans were expecting the trailer of the upcoming film to be released this weekend.
According to recent IANS reports, the actor and his production team have decided to postpone the release of the trailer, considering the rising tension between India and Pakistan.
The reports further suggested that the production team decided against promoting the film due to the current heightened security concerns in the nation, calling it inappropriate timing.
A source informed the outlet, “Concerning the ongoing developments at the country's borders and the nationwide alert, Aamir Khan Productions have decided to postpone their upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par's trailer.”
The source continued, “Our thoughts are with the brave hearts of our armed forces who remain steadfast in protecting the nation. As responsible citizens, we believe it is important to respond with unity and restraint during this time.”
Sitaare Zameen Par trailer was initially scheduled to be released on May 8.
For the unversed, Sitaare Zameen Par features Aamir Khan and Genelia D'Souza in the lead roles. However, 10 rising actors, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar, will make their Bollywood debut with the upcoming film.
Directed by RS Prasanna, the upcoming sequel is based on the 2018 Spanish film Champions. Sitaare Zameen Par will be released in the theatres on June 20. The film is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions.
