Aamir Khan confirms superhero project with Lokesh Kanagaraj

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is set to join hands with one of Tamil cinema’s most exciting directors, Lokesh Kanagaraj, for a massive superhero action film. The actor confirmed the news during a recent media interaction, revealing that the project will kick off in the second half of 2026.

“Lokesh and I are working on a film; it’s a superhero film. It is a big-scale action film and it will start next year, second half,” Aamir said during a group interview. This marks a significant collaboration between Bollywood and the South Indian film industry, promising a high-octane cinematic experience.

Lokesh Kanagaraj has gained critical acclaim and commercial success through films like Kaithi, Master, Vikram, and most recently Leo. His intense, fast-paced storytelling and action-heavy style are expected to bring a fresh flavor to Hindi cinema. Aamir Khan, known for his perfectionism and deep involvement in every aspect of filmmaking, will likely elevate the scale and emotional depth of the film.

While fans were hoping for a sequel to Aamir’s 2014 hit PK, the actor dismissed those rumors. Instead, he confirmed he is reuniting with PK director Rajkumar Hirani for a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, the Father of Indian Cinema. “PK 2 is a rumour. I’m doing Dadasaheb Phalke’s biopic, Raju (Hirani) and I are working on it,” he clarified.

Aamir also spoke about his long-standing dream project — Mahabharata. However, he stated that it’s still in its early conceptual stages. “It’s not a film; it’s a surrender,” he said, reflecting on the complexity of the epic. “I don’t have the right information right now. All I know is I’m going to start work on it.”

When asked about possible sequels from his filmography, Aamir named Dil Chahta Hai, 3 Idiots, and Sarfarosh as films with potential for continuations. “In Dil Chahta Hai, we could explore the mid-life crisis of the three boys and their journey through therapy,” he said.

With a superhero film in the pipeline and multiple big projects brewing, Aamir Khan’s upcoming slate signals a dynamic phase in his illustrious career.
