The special screening of Lagaan celebrating 25 years of the iconic film brought together members of the original cast and crew for a memorable evening filled with nostalgia. The event took place at the Red Lorry Film Festival, where the timeless sports drama was honoured for its enduring cultural impact and cinematic legacy.

The celebration was attended by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar and actor-producer Aamir Khan, whose collaboration on Lagaan became one of the most talked-about collabs in Indian cinema. Joining them at the screening were several members of the film’s cast including Raghubir Yadav, Akhilendra Mishra, Amin Hajee, Pradeep Ram Singh Rawat and Aditya Lakhia.

The cast's reunion transported audiences back to the world of the fictional village of Champaner and the cricket match that captured the imagination of millions.

Following the screening of Lagaan, the evening continued with an engaging conversation session featuring Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar.

During the interaction, Aamir Khan showed on the emotional journey of making Lagaan and spoke fondly about the people who were part of the film.

Aamir remembered several members of the cast and crew who are no longer with us, acknowledging their contributions to the project that went on to become a milestone in Indian cinema.

Sharing an interesting BTS ritual from the shoot, Aamir revealed that the entire team would listen to the Gayatri Mantra every day while travelling to the set. What began as a simple practice gradually became a meaningful routine for the cast and crew, helping create a strong sense of unity and positivity throughout the shoot.

The conversation also touched upon a humorous creative disagreement from the early days of production. Ashutosh Gowarikar had originally imagined Aamir Khan’s character Bhuvan with a clean-shaven look. However, Aamir preferred appearing slightly unshaven to suit the rustic setting of the village. Recalling the moment with a smile, Aamir joked that since the village in the story had no proper water supply, it would hardly make sense for the character to appear freshly shaved.
