The Mirzapur Lok Sabha constituency, one of the 80 parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, is a General category seat. It includes five Legislative Assembly segments of Chhanbey (reserved for Scheduled Caste), Mirzapur, Majhawan, Chunar, and Marihan, all currently held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance.

Mirzapur has been significant in the political careers of prominent figures such as Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Member of Parliament (MP) from the Rajya Sabha, Arun Singh. Phoolan Devi made history in 1996 as the first woman MP from Mirzapur.

Apna Dal (S), which is in coalition with the BJP in this election, has nominated its incumbent MP, Anupriya Patel, to contest for a third consecutive term. Patel, a former teacher and social worker who joined the party in 2016, currently serves as the Minister of State (MoS) for Commerce and Industry. She was previously the MoS for the Union Health Ministry and has also served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Rohaniya.

Patel has held the Mirzapur seat since 2014, winning in 2019 with a margin of 2.32 lakh votes, maintaining her 2014 lead of 2.19 lakh votes.

Patel's core support comes from the Patel community, which constitutes a significant portion of Mirzapur's electorate, with approximately 3.5 lakh votes. Brahmins, Vaishyas, and Kshatriyas together account for over 3.9 lakh votes.

The Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) has fielded Manish Tripathi, a Brahmin candidate, potentially causing a split in the Brahmin vote, which typically supports the BJP.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) has nominated Ramesh Bind, a former BJP MP from Bhadohi, as its candidate. Ramesh Bind left the BJP to join SP when he was not renominated from Bhadohi.

Elections in Mirzapur will commence on July 1 in the last phase of Lok Sabha elections.
