The Election Commission on May 7 asked the micro-blogging site X (formerly known as Twitter) to immediately take down "objectionable post" shared by the Karnataka unit of the BJP.
A first information report (FIR) was already filed over the objectionable post. "An FIR has already been registered in the matter... However, the post has not been taken down yet," the Election Commission (EC) in a statement.
The Congress had approached the poll body with a complaint against Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra for posting "derogatory" content that could lead to law and order issues.
BJP-Karnataka’s official social media handles allegedly claimed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah saying that “Congress did not need Hindu votes and Muslim votes were adequate for them”.
