The fight is between the BJP’s only incumbent member of parliament from National Capital Territory of Delhi, Tiwari and Congress’ Former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) President Kumar. Another candidate contesting from this Lok Sabha constituency is Babita Yadav from Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram).
The constituency is dominated by migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The actor-singer-politician Manoj Tiwari is hoping for a hat-trick in the constituency.

The voter turnout in this Lok Sabha constituency in 2024 has been lower at 62.89 percent as compared to 63.86 percent in 2019. The voter turnout in North East Delhi in 2014 was 67.32 percent in 2014 and 52.35 percent in 2009 Lok Sabha elections. In absolute numbers, the voter turnout was slightly higher in 2024 at 15,49,202 voters as compared to 14,62,767 voters in 2019. The number of registered voters in the constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections stands at 24,63,159.
In 2019, BJP won the North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat with its candidate Manoj Tiwari defeating Congress candidate former chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit. BJP’s Purvanchali star campaigner has retained the constituency in the Lok Sabha elections since 2014.
North East Delhi constituency is one of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies in National Capital Territory of Delhi.
The Lok Sabha constituency has ten Assembly segments under it – Burari, Timarpur, Seemapuri, Rohtas Nagar, Seelampur, Ghonda, Babarpur, Gokalpur, Mustafabad and Karawal Nagar.
Manoj Tiwari won with a huge margin with 53.90 percent votes in 2019 while Sheila Dikshit from Congress got 28.85 percent votes. This time Tiwari is pitted against Kanhaiya Kumar in this North East Delhi constituency.
In 2014, BJP’s Tiwari defeated Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Anand Kumar and Congress’ Jai Prakash Agarwal with 45.23 percent votes. While AAP got 34.30 percent votes, Congress received 16.30 percent votes in 2014. In 2009, Congress’ Agarwal won from the constituency with 59.03 percent votes.
The North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency came into existence in 2008. It has been a stronghold of the BJP since 2014.
