The BJP has released a list of star campaigners for phase 1 of Bihar elections. The list includes the names of PM Narendra Modi, Union Ministers JP Nadda, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, among other leaders.

The Rashtriya Lok Morcha, an NDA ally in Bihar, has released a list of four candidates for the upcoming assembly polls.

The party will be contesting on six seats – Bajpatti (Sitamarhi), Madhubani, Paru (Muzaffarpur), Ujiarpur (Samastipur), Sasaram (Rohtas) and Dinara (Rohtas).

Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav, who was recently expelled from the RJD by his father and founding president Lalu Prasad, on Thursday filed his nomination papers from Mahua assembly constituency in Vaishali district. Tej Pratap, who recently floated political outfit Janshakti Janta Dal, submitted his documents while carrying a photograph of his late grandmother.

Janata Dal (United) has released its second list of candidates for the Bihar assembly elections, completing nominations for all 101 seats allocated to the party. The second list includes 44 candidates, following the first list of 57 candidates announced yesterday.

For political expediency, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav is now believed to put his foot down, and state categorically that Mukesh Sahani's VIP can only get around 15 seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked BJP workers in Bihar to reach out to every household to spread awareness of the schemes launched by the Centre and the Nitish Kumar government, and gave the slogan “Ekjut NDA, Ekjut Bihar - Phirse banegi sushashan ki sarkar”(Uni  ed NDA, united Bihar - the government of good governance will be formed again).

The poll panel said it has also “activated the online system called Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) for reporting of interceptions/seizures made by the FSs, SSTs and enforcement agencies on a real-time basis during the election period.”

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday said a total of Rs 33.97 crore worth of cash, liquor, drugs, and freebies has been seized by different enforcement agencies in Bihar since the announcement of the assembly elections and the model code of conduct (MCC) came into effect. The ECI also said it has activated the online system - Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) - for reporting interceptions and seizures made by the enforcement agencies on a real-time basis during the election period.

Earlier on Tuesday, The BJP announced its first list of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. The list highlights a balance between experienced leaders, sitting MLAs, and new entrants as the party looks to refresh its strategy ahead of the polls.

In a post on X, Rajesh Ram thanked the party for the nomination. “I express my heartfelt gratitude to the top leadership of the Congress Party and assure them that I will not contest this election alone, but the entire Kutumba family will fight together,” the Congress Bihar unit president said. “We will all together make our invaluable contribution to forming the Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar,” he added.

Two NDA allies, Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustan Awam Morcha, have publicly expressed their displeasure. JD(U) has also conveyed their objections while refraining from making any public remarks.

Congress has fielded Vijendra Chaudhary from Muzaffarpur, Om Prakash Garg from Gopalganj, Amita Bhushan Begusarai, Dr. Shashi Shekhar Singh from Wazirganj, Kaushelendra Kumar from Nalanda, and Anand Shankar Singh from Aurangabad.
