The Election Commission on Monday announced the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections, which will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11. Votes will be counted on November 14. The term of the 243-member state assembly ends on November 22.
Of the 243 constituencies, two have been reserved for Scheduled Tribes, and 38 have been reserved for Scheduled Castes. Candidates must submit their nominations by October 17 for the first phase and by October 20 for the second phase.

“Along with the second phase, 8 Assembly bypolls are to be conducted on November 11,” said CEC Gyanesh Kumar, adding that the results will be declared along with the Bihar Assembly polls on November 14. According to the EC, 121 constituencies will go to the polls in the first phase, while the remaining 122 will vote in the second phase. Voters can check their constituency below.

During their two-day election tour to Bihar, Election Commission also met representatives from major national and state political parties, including the BJP, JD(U), RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), AAP and others to seek their suggestions on the Bihar election schedule. The schedule has been announced just days after the publication of the final electoral roll on September 30, which put the total number of electors at 7.42 crore, of which 3.92 crore are male and 3.5 crore are women.
While announcing the schedule on Monday, the poll body also announced 17 new initiatives that will be unrolled during the Bihar Assembly polls, including compulsory webcasting and mobile phone-deposit facilities at all polling stations.
