West Bengal Schools Closed: Holiday on Feb 13-14 for Shab-e-Barat and Panchanan Barma Jayanti

The West Bengal government has declared holidays on 13 and 14 February 2025 for Shab-e-Barat and Panchanan Barma Jayanti. Telangana schools will also be closed on 14 February for Shab-e-Barat, with an additional holiday on 15 February for Sant Sewalal Maharaj Jayanti.

The West Bengal government has announced that all state-run offices, schools, and institutions will remain closed on 13 and 14 February 2025 in observance of Shab-e-Barat and Panchanan Barma Jayanti. This decision was taken after it was confirmed that Shab-e-Barat falls on 13 February this year.

Earlier, the government had declared 14 February as a holiday for Shab-e-Barat as per a notification that was released earlier. However, as the date of the festival was later confirmed to be 13 February, the state government has now included this day as a public holiday. The holiday on 14 February remains unchanged, as it marks the birth anniversary of Thakur Panchanan Barma.

With this decision, all government offices, local bodies, statutory bodies, boards, corporations, undertakings controlled or owned by the state government, and all educational institutions will remain closed on both days. Additionally, as 15 and 16 February fall on a Saturday and Sunday, government employees will get an extended four-day break.

Telangana Schools Closed

The Telangana government has also announced a break for schools on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. While 14 February has been declared an optional holiday, many schools in Hyderabad and other districts are expected to remain closed. Additionally, 15 February has been declared a government holiday for the birth anniversary of Sant Sewalal Maharaj. With 16 February being a Sunday, schools in Telangana will also have a three-day holiday.
