The registration for the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, a large student innovation program, closes today, October 6. Students from classes 6 to 12 must sign up on the official website, vbb.mic.gov.in, before the deadline.

The event is run by the Ministry of Education along with the Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog. Its goal is to get students across India to create projects and solutions for national development.

Over one crore students from more than 1.5 lakh schools are expected to take part. Students will work in teams of 5 to 7. They will make projects based on themes like 'Vocal for Local' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.

What is the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025?

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon is more than just a competition, it is a massive nationwide movement designed to promote innovation among school students. Aligning with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, it emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning. The program aims to foster Atmanirbharta (self-reliance), promote sustainable growth, and position India as a global hub for young talent.

Students will work in teams of five to seven to ideate, design, and develop prototypes addressing key national themes:

• Vocal for Local
• Atmanirbhar Bharat
• Swadeshi
• Samriddh Bharat

The event is notably inclusive, with a special focus on engaging students from Aspirational Districts, Tribal, and Remote Regions.

Key Dates

With registration ending today, October 6, the Buildathon schedule is as follows:

• Preparation Period: October 6 - October 13, 2025
• National Live Buildathon: October 13, 2025. This synchronized event will be inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister at Vigyan Bhawan, with simultaneous innovation activities occurring in over 1.5 lakh schools across the country.
• Final Submission Window: October 13 - October 31, 2025 (Entries in the form of photos and videos)
• Evaluation Period: November - December 2025
• Results & Felicitation: January 2026
