The Uttarakhand government has launched the ‘Super 100’ programme to provide free coaching to 100 meritorious students preparing for medical and engineering entrance examinations.
School Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat inaugurated the programme on Monday. It is aimed at Class 12 science students studying in government schools under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
Students have been selected through an entrance test conducted by the department. The top 100 students will receive free coaching in Dehradun from 1 June to 15 July. During this 45-day residential programme, the government will provide food, accommodation, study material, and coaching support at no cost.
Dr Rawat said that the government is running this initiative in collaboration with the Avanti Fellows organisation. Teachers from the organisation will assist in the coaching programme.
Additional State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha, Kuldeep Gairola, informed that after completing the 45-day offline coaching, students will return to their respective schools. They will continue to receive online coaching for the rest of the academic year.
Gairola added that the students’ progress will be evaluated regularly during the coaching to help them prepare better for competitive exams like NEET and JEE.
The government aims to give students from government schools better opportunities to compete in national-level entrance exams through this initiative.
